I agree with the supposed arguments against this film that you cite as unconvincing. A lot of it is low IQ Semitism, eg insistence that Uwe Boll is Jewish reminds of shrill cries that Siouxsie Sioux must be Jewish because of the song "Israel." (The instrumentation and sound of that song is great, the lyrics are however horrible and make it unlistenable to me).

I want to again reassert my principal concern. The problem with uncritical praise of this film is that it overlooks its propensity to act a poison pill. The film is objectively bad. Those already convinced that multi-racialism and diversity are an existential threat seem, on the whole, to approve. I think quite foolishly. But beyond that, this film is likely to repel those who are teetering on the brink. They are likely to do so if for no other reason than how awful this film is. As I stated, it seems to be these people would also fully embrace Tommy Wiseau coming out of the wood work to make a film about black fatigue. That would be a colossal gaffe. While I am less sure because the film has been so successful in the short run, I am still not convinced uncritical praise of this film is wife (not that Millennial Woes has engaged in that, but many others have) I will leave a link to a short note summarizing my own thoughts on this. It was written quickly just as the controversy unfolded. And whereas some contentions could be elaborated and expounded on, all the contentions stand as far as I am concerned.

Great post. There is a huge problem with paranoia on the right unfortunately.

The director of Starship Troopers intended it to be a scathing satire of fascism, but audiences saw that it was awesome to fight rampaging bugs to defend your people. It wasn't just the unwashed masses who missed the intended message either; many reviewers attacked it for endorsing fascism.

So it doesn't really matter if Boll intended to say nothing about race. People watching the movie in light of current events are going to see the racial angle anyway if they're at all open to it. Those who aren't won't see it in the first place.

I don't like that film that much because the book is vastly superior. That stated, Starship Troopers was made with a certain baseline competence. This was not. The same principle applies with American History X. That film was certainly flawed, but viewers can engage in resistant viewing which is why the infamous dinner scene is so much like an "own goal" scored by an overrated soccer (or football team that is much higher rated than its actual ability. But there again that film has a plot, is made with baseline competence, fairly good acting. This is not, and indeed is so far below a minimal baseline level of competence.

Excellent synopsis. I agree entirely.

Won't UK viewers compare the way the Muslim family really didn't think their son had done anything wrong to the behaviour of the Sikh family over the murder of Henry Nowak?

Samuel Melia's avatar

Yep. It's also an entirely accurate portrayal as the families of these rapists have often blamed the girls.

Yes indeed. Thank you sir. Forget the gratuitous sex scene, (maybe Boll just couldn't make a movie without one) the lack of clear white advocacy and take the win against the rape gangs. We needed it.

"Jewish film distributors tend to like money". Non-Jewish ones don't?

Millennial Woes's avatar

Well, I don't know if there ARE any!

Film distributors need to make a profit to survive just like anyone in business including non-Jews.
