Voted Reform as part of the 0 seats campaign. For a long time since I thought I’d never vote again given how Reform is totally equivalent to the Conservatives. Restore are failing Scotland by (a) promising to abolish the Scottish parliament (Rupert Lowe on facebook) and (b) extend s35 of the Scotland Act on the basis of English parliamentary sovereignty over Scotland. This is from Retaking the English Castle: "Restore Britain would repeal the Scottish Hate Crime and Public Order Act (2021) in full. We plan to address the sorry state of free speech across modern Britain in a future paper, but for the purposes of retaking the English (and indeed the Scottish) castle, Parliament should exercise its powers under s. 35 of the Scotland Act (1998) to kill the legislation. This may require an amendment to s. 35 clarifying the right to repeal existing laws alongside the more explicitly stated right to block pending ones. If so, that amendment will be made. Parliament must remain sovereign".
It's an awful act, for the reasons they outline, but this procedure is against Scotland's tradition of sovereignty of the people. It leaves Scotland defenceless against Westminster and the City of London.
Scotland hasn’t held that much out against it. I’ve been there on holiday last year and saw lots of Indians even in the most remote places. Of course, most invaders on our Isles are in England, but everywhere has had armies plunge in. My Bulgarian friend was shocked at the state of Edinburgh, but for me it wasn’t as bad as Home, that’s how bad it is.
Glasgow has definitely been targeted. It is the third biggest city in the UK after London and Birmingham, both of which are now minority white of course. Same playbook as everywhere else. Were people really that surprised by the launch of Restore Britain? Rupert said a while back that he intended to offer a serious alternative.
